Closing out 2016…

I really can’t believe it’s already December and that Hanukkah and Christmas are just a few weeks away! As a way to reflect on my life and move forward with intention, I’m trying to keep up with a monthly blog to get clear on my goals and vision for the weeks ahead – this practice and blog format was introduced to me by my friend and fabulous goal coach Jacki Carr Hynes. Thank you, Jacki.
The two things I am celebrating the most from November are:

1. Finding and securing an apartment in Leadville, CO – our new home! This is a transitional apartment until we close on selling our house December 31st and can then buy something out there in the mountains. It’s nothing fancy. In fact, it’s about as basic as an apartment can be. But that’s okay! We will make it our home with the pups and we are grateful to have a place to lay our heads at night.

The high life…at 10,200 feet.

2. Time spent with my big brother, Jonathan, and his girlfriend, Jessica. They came to visit at the very end of October actually and we had a great time hiking, brunching and hanging out together. We did a lot in a short amount of time but everyone’s go with the flow attitude made it feel so carefree and spontaneous. I cherish time with my family now more than ever, since we became loners in Colorado. What a great weekend together – one I will remember forever!

The two things I am most grateful for from November are:

1. Starting my new job at the hospital out in Frisco and getting my first shift as the only OT under my belt. I did better than I expected with all the documentation {EPIC} and I’m excited to continue learning and growing in my profession. I am so grateful for the opportunity to work in such a small hospital with an amazing team and world renowned surgeons!

2. A quiet and lazy Thanksgiving at home with Ryan and the pups. We picked up a roasted chicken from King Soopers (because a whole turkey is just too big for 2 people). We cooked my favorite casserole (my mom’s squash and zucchini casserole), sweet potatoes with marshmallows (a Thanksgiving classic), and a homemade gluten free pumpkin pie. It was perfect!

Anything to release, or let go of, from November speak now: FEAR.

The lesson I learned and am carrying forward with me from November is: One day at a time is truly the BEST way to live.

My intention word(s) for December is/are: Be open and patient. All in good time. Don’t push the river.

One thing I aim to do every day in December is: BREATHE with intention. And lay down in savasana every single day. And simply breathe.
Because I am brave, here are two new/scary things I will do in December:
1. I will willingly move into an apartment with no garage, fireplace, dishwasher, or microwave. I imagine it will be like dorm living + my husband and pups. 😉 Except at 10,200 feet of elevation — I may need to invest in an oxygen tank. 😱

View outside our apartment.

2. I will meet with an accountant for my LuLaRoe business and educate myself on all things taxes — something I have avoided for years!  Time to learn.

The one book I definitely want to FINISH in December is: “The Universe Has Your Back” by Gabrielle Bernstein. Slow going as I’m trying to absorb it all but I WILL finish!

Just for fun, I will: Plan a small birthday dinner gathering with some of my closest friends in Denver because I want to make an intentional effort to spend time with the people who I love before we move away (even if it is only just shy of 2 hours away).

As an act of intentional kindness, I will: Donate our old jackets to homeless people I see around town. They are currently in the back seat  of my car. I always want to do something positive to help them and I think a little extra warmth is always welcome, especially living in Colorado.

Wishing you a beautiful holiday season and a fulfilling end to 2016!
