Thank you to my sweet friend, local goal coach and all-around awesome human, Jacki Carr Hynes, for giving me the following format to reflect on the past month and my intentions and goals for the month ahead. That being said, here is August in a nutshell…
The two things I am celebrating the most from August are:
1. Spending time with my parents, connecting, hiking and experiencing Crested Butte for the first time together. What a wonderful memory that I will cherish for the rest of my life!

2. Pushing myself WAY outside my comfort zone and trying a new workout program, Country Heat, and learning how to DANCE! I can’t believe how much fun I have shaking my booty in my basement all by myself. Ha! I now feel more coordinated, lighter on my feet and more fearless!

The two things I am most grateful for from August are:
1. Returning to work and getting back into a routine. Apparently, I really thrive on and crave structure – which is weird to say after having such an amazing summer off from work, traveling, spending time with friends, and launching my new LuLaRoe clothing business.
2. The gift of time. Time to prepare for our future. Ryan found out his company is closing at the end of 2016 and all 280 full-employees are being laid off. While this was a bit of a shock and never GREAT news, we both feel blessed to be able to PREPARE for the inevitable upcoming changes.
Anything to release, or let go of, from August speak now: Being ‘ON’ all the time…I need to remember that it’s okay to leave my phone in the other room and to set better boundaries with clients and customers. I need to make “office hours” to create those boundaries in order to protect my precious time spent with my hubs and pups, and out in nature.
The lesson I learned and am carrying forward with me from August is: Hustling is great and admirable but not to the point of burnout or illness. Remember to slow down, each day. Breathe. Intentionally. And try to go to bed by 10pm, cause I’m just a better person when I do.
My intention word(s) for September is/are: Balance and Self-Care.
One thing I aim to do every day in September is: Read at least 15-20 minutes a day. Reading personal development books really helps me to stay mentally strong and with a lot of upcoming life transitions it is so important for me to fuel my mind with positive and empowering words, every single day.
Because I am brave, here are two new/scary things I will do in September:
1. I will work on doing pull-ups even though all I have been able to do so far is hang there for a minute or so. Or do a HALF pull-up. I am so afraid of failing with this, but I know I just need to practice, consistently, and I will get there.
2. I will have NEW friends over to my house to watch a Broncos game. As much as I am an extrovert, I still have the same fears and insecurities as anyone with making new friends. But I know the only way to foster new friendships is to give them opportunities to grow.
The one book I definitely want to read/FINISH in September is: Tony Robbins “Unleash the Giant Within.”
Just for fun, I will: Finally go see Mumford and Sons in concert!
As an act of intentional kindness, I will…be more helpful at work. I will just DO things first without hoping ‘someone else’ will take the reigns and then resenting the fact that everything was disorganized, inefficient and all around a crapshoot. Just because I am not the case manager of the students I serve doesn’t mean I can’t be more helpful or even more of a leader at my schools.
